To know Jo is to know a woman of prayer, a woman of purpose, and a woman of worship. Jo is passionate about God’s presence and passionate about God’s people. A worship leader, pastor, writer and producer, Jo encompasses a plethora of gifts to touch the world, and to edify the body of Christ. Jo is married to the love of her life, Douglas, and together they have ministered across the world as preachers of the gospel and ministers of worship to help as many people as possible gain access to the beauty of worship. While born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jo is clear about her call to the nations. Through and by the grace of God, she has been blessed to travel the world, and minister in various countries including, but not limited to: Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Ghana, France, England, Canada. Jo Sheppard has a global calling with a local focus. She wholeheartedly believes that she can impact the world one soul at a time.
Music Life

Jo’s sound is connected to all people, and Jo’s soul is connected to heaven, so when you experience Jo’s music, you experience a touch of heaven for every human heart. She approaches music the way she approaches life—open and surrendered. Jo is open to whatever God desires to sing through her, and her songs corroborate her posture and perspective. Her writing style is consistent with the Psalms—some songs are prayers, other songs are testimonies, but all of her songs intend to glorify God. Over time, she has evolved from an Urban Contemporary Gospel artist to a Contemporary Christian Praise and Worship Leader, and she continues to evolve by offering a multiplicity of styles including dance, rock, pop, and soul. Jo has recorded (two albums) titled (Rock Righteous and Double Portion), and has served as lead worshiper at several churches, including but not limited to: Mercy Gate Church (Mont Belvieu, TX), St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church (Humble, TX), New Light Church (Houston, TX), and Kingdom Church (Ewing, NJ). Quite simply, Jo’s music is a gateway that allows others access to the word of the Lord, and the sound of heaven.
Ministry Life
If worship leading is Jo’s calling, then proclaiming the gospel is Jo’s higher calling. One of her greatest joys is to witness lives changed and souls saved through the Word of God. A preacher, pastor and workshop facilitator, Jo has held several leadership positions throughout her ministry tenure, including the Professor of Pastoral Worship at Victory Bible College (Tulsa, OK), the Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts at Transformation Church (Tulsa, OK), and the Elder of Worship, Media, and Creative Arts at Benaiah Ministries (Brooklyn NY). She is currently serving at Change Church. A multi campus, multi generational church based in Ewing, New Jersey. Jo is also a disciple-maker in the area of worship. She has taught workshops for the following ministries: Shekinah Ministries of the Greater Allen A.M.E. (Queens, NY), Greater Mount Zion (Prince Fredrick, MD), Abundance Life (Holbrook, NY) and Kingdom Builders Ministries (Boston, MA). Jo is currently working on her first published resource tentatively titled THE SOUND, where its goal is to train lead worshipers and establish diverse worship cultures across the globe. The curriculum covers subjects like Knowing the Holy Spirit, Worshipping in Spirit and Truth, Living a Leading Life, and Creating an Atmosphere.
